Another incredible and inspiring issue Raphy! I keep going back again and again to that Nick Cave quote since I saw it in Mason's newsletter. I'm glad to see it again here. It's what I need right to now
Woah, thanks so much for the feature, Raphy!! And great photo from London, I'm assuming it's from a subway station, right? It's certainly on my list of photographs to make when there one day!
‘Tube’! It’s quite remarkable, the whole underground system. If you looked at the tube map, you might be left wondering ‘whose design was this?!’ It looks so chaotic but it’s effective because each station and line were built organically out of an emergent need as the city started sprawling.
I definitely recommend subscribing to Leo’s NYC substack, especially if you like seeing photos of other cities.
And yes - I have no idea how they do the remastering - if the fps feels quite modern. I’m curious to see what the original looked like but I didn’t see any sources.
It is from a tube station! Funnily enough I can’t remember which one - it might have been Euston. No adventure story - I just loved the optical effect of that particular tunnel. Lots of people around walking at London pace and I was standing there wondering how they weren’t dizzy and falling over.
I’m in London a lot (at least weekly), but I’m often driving (it’s its own phenomenon) - and i’m very much still a country bumpkin...

I’m glad 😀. And yes, it’s just showing up everyday and not getting too lost in all of life’s curve balls.
Sending vibes to you and Becky 🖤.

Leo! Love his work!
Thanks Raphy! It's amazing that they can remaster the video from that far back.
I've seen Leo's Substack with his great photos of NYC before. I'll have to check it out again.
You can't leave me hanging on that London photo. Is that from the tube? If not, where is it? I'm sure there is a story behind it.
