I feel like you are in my head! First, I love Sam Bloomfield's voice and want more of his poetry!
Second, (this is where things are going to get weird) I went to law school and practice law for nine years. While still in law school I spent a summer in Shanghai as part of a law school exchange program. I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese (all though I'm a little rusty) because long before law school and Shanghai, I liven in Taiwan for two years. On top of all that, I'm a huge bluegrass fan.
Third, I'm also a bit of a productivity nerd, but I'm currently thinking about the power of unproductive time and anti-productivity.
My undergraduate degree is in Political Science with an emphasis in Chinese politics, and my law school thesis was a study comparing the legal systems in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. How I never heard of Abigail Washburn before now is a mystery, but I'm grateful you shared her TED talk.
