Mum and Dad - photography by Jude Lee Allen
From the Community
Jude’s photography of his parents had me reflect on how it would be to see my parents through a lens different from my own eyes. I looked through old photos of them from when they were children and I thought: ‘there’s a whole human being there before they became my mum and my dad.’

The Faint Shadow of The Morning Moon - a poem by Yone Noguchi
From the Internet
The faint shadow of the morning moon? Nay, the snow falling on the earth. The mist of blossoming flowers? Nay, poetry smiling up the sky. -- Yone Noguchi
I came across this on Poem-a-Day, and you can listen to the podcast below.

On Conversation - a quote from Jordan B. Peterson
From the Internet
People organise their brains with conversation. If they don’t have anyone to tell their story to, they lose their minds.

COOKING!
The World of Wholefood Cooking
A 3-Part Introductory Cooking Series at Concord Institute
For those of you are based in London or the UK, I’d like to let you know about The World of Wholefood Cooking - a series of three classes introducing you to an entire universe of food to play with.
Food is a big part of my creative life - not only does it sustain my well-being so I can deploy my energy to doing things I love, but cooking is a huge act of creativity in itself. From writing the menu, choosing your ingredients, considering the season and weather, and bringing together a variety of textures, colours and flavours to create a plate that is nothing short of a piece of art. Bonus - you get to eat it.
As it happens, the man photographed in Jude’s ‘Mum and Dad’ at the top of this post is Nicholas Allen, who is one of the facilitators of this series. He is also the proprietor and head cook at the Star Anise Café in Stroud, UK.
