Let it In to Let it Go — a poem by Beth Smith
From the Community
Let it in to let it go
Dwelling in negative thinking
I feel my heart and soul sinking
Into depths they should not go
But perhaps it’s best to let them in
Just to say hello
Then gently wave them off
As you rise back up to the surface
And know that you don’t deserve for this
Inner turmoil
To spoil
Your piece
Of mind
That you carefully picked from the puzzle
And muddle
Of thoughts that you find
Swirling around in your head
Just as you wind down to bed
Take your peace
And breathe
Breathe
Unravel the twaddle
And breathe
And watch the sun glisten
As you paddle
Upon these high seas
And listen
To the beating of your heart
And the singing of your soul
Once
Again

A Spiral Ascending — a performance by Jess Gillam
From the Internet
In the first half of this video, Jess Gillam performs Edmund Finnis’ ‘A Spiral Ascending’. In the second half, she is joined by Leif Kaner-Lidström (piano) and Sam Becker (bass) for Kurt Weill’s ‘Je ne t’aime pas’, and Astor Piazolla’s ‘Nightclub 1960’.
Production by Barbican Sessions. If you haven’t been to visit, I highly recommend hanging out at their Conservatory - it’s an oasis of peace in the heart of London.

On Poetry — a quote from N.H Kleinbaum
From the Internet
“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race, and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”
— N.H Kleinbaum (Dead Poets Society)
